It's cold. It's rainy. Hi, it's January. Today was actually bright and warm so a girlfriend and I walked 7 miles on the greenway through the city. But every other day seems to have looked like the above. And despite the ick of the outside, January has actually brought some delightful news. I'll be teaching at the Charlotte Art League! Just a few workshops here and there and then when the child starts Kindergarten in the fall, I'll be able to take on a heavier load. Also I started the etsy shop back up, so check that out pleaseandthankyou!

Hey guys! I'm so very excited to be hosting my first overnight art retreat! We have art journaling workshops, yoga, meditation and more lined up for the very last Friday and Saturday in May. Thanks to the generosity of the two woman leading the yoga and meditation, I've been able to offer scholarships and discounts.

It's been over a year since I hosted my last workshop, so I'm going to be spending the next couple weeks brushing up on new techniques to share. All materials, supplies, and meals will be provided--guests just need to bring their own tent and sleeping arrangements! Space is limited, so I encourage you to register asap!

Light + Ghosts: Adventures in Pinhole (From the My Indie Charlotte Archives)

Instead of doing the easy thing of importing my old blog over here, or at least just leaving my archives up at My Indie Charlotte, I deleted everything and imported nothing. I really did want to start fresh, but I'm still fond of some of the old MIC photosets. So I'm adding my favorite memories slowly over here, and organizing them in a way that works for this blog. 

This photoset is from 2011 (look at the wee beb!). I poked a hole in a small piece of construction paper, rubber-banded it over my lense and over the course of two days went on a little pinhole adventure around the house. I think I'll do that again soon, faux-trippiness is fun.

As you know, I am forever homesick. I'm like a sad, mopey puppy or squirrel or whatever and I'll collect anything that reminds me of home. I've been enamored with the poetry of Sandra Cisneros lately, one of my favorite authors as a teen. So I ordered Vintage Cisneros, an anthology of some of her best passages, to add to the library. And also, there is this blog.
