So very excited!

Hey guys! I'm so very excited to be hosting my first overnight art retreat! We have art journaling workshops, yoga, meditation and more lined up for the very last Friday and Saturday in May. Thanks to the generosity of the two woman leading the yoga and meditation, I've been able to offer scholarships and discounts.

It's been over a year since I hosted my last workshop, so I'm going to be spending the next couple weeks brushing up on new techniques to share. All materials, supplies, and meals will be provided--guests just need to bring their own tent and sleeping arrangements! Space is limited, so I encourage you to register asap!

Light + Ghosts: Adventures in Pinhole (From the My Indie Charlotte Archives)

Instead of doing the easy thing of importing my old blog over here, or at least just leaving my archives up at My Indie Charlotte, I deleted everything and imported nothing. I really did want to start fresh, but I'm still fond of some of the old MIC photosets. So I'm adding my favorite memories slowly over here, and organizing them in a way that works for this blog.

This photoset is from 2011 (look at the wee beb!). I poked a hole in a small piece of construction paper, rubber-banded it over my lense and over the course of two days went on a little pinhole adventure around the house. I think I'll do that again soon, faux-trippiness is fun.

Wish you were here

I haven't done a lot of creative journaling lately, but here's the one thing I did over the holidays!

Notes and Things

Hi. Hi there. I've been wanting to start blogging again but where do I pick up after being away for a couple months? With a collection of random thoughts, news, and links of course!

1. Those are my sheer pink curtains above. They make everything pink in this room.
2. Nourish Interactive has some fun (read: free) kiddo printables.
3. One of my favorite mixed-media artists Sarah Ahearn Bellemare is offering her Painted Pages Workshop again. I neeeeeed.
4. Hey! I'm getting new glasses tomorrow! It's only been three years.
5. All the Monday links you need: Anne Helen Peterson's Pre-Christmas Media Consumption List.
6. News site I've been obsessed with: the Cities section of The Atlantic.
7. Read about The Hidden Mother by Linda Fregni Nagler (can also be filed under: Today in Kinda Creepy History).
8. Bitch has put together their 200th mixtape for your enjoyment. Thank you, Mother Christmas.
9. The Vintage Ephemera section of Voices of East Anglia is a treasure trove of delight.
10. Is anyone else thinking of New Year's resolutions/goals/promises yet? I've got three things I definitely want to do come January One: keep a daily journal; continue developing the two workshops I have lined up for 2014; and read more fiction. I am a lady of leisure.

Hello, I Love You.

Black Salt Collective--an amazing group of multicultural, multidisipline artists, visionaries, and more!

The cutest pregnancy journal ever by Bianca//Good Night Little Spoon

One of my favorites, Natalie at Awkward + Beautiful gives the best tutorial I've seen so far on doing image transfers. This one is with water and packaging tape, aaah so easy, yay!

Is this real life? Kate Gabrielle of Scathingly Brilliant has a super adorable home! Ohhh myyyyy!

As you know, I am forever homesick. I'm like a sad, mopey puppy or squirrel or whatever and I'll collect anything that reminds me of home. I've been enamored with the poetry of Sandra Cisneros lately, one of my favorite authors as a teen. So I ordered Vintage Cisneros, an anthology of some of her best passages, to add to the library. And also, there is this blog.

Also ordered: these red heels. Just because.

Five Photographs By My Kid

AG, age 3.5 is always up in my business. So if she sees me with camera in hand, she always requests to take a couple pictures too. Today I let her take over just to see her little person perspective on things. I'm impressed at the shot she got of the mini-pond in the backyard! I let her edit them after as well--with my help of course, because I was trying to avoid her finding out about the world of photo stickers.

Sunday Treasures: The Wildflower Garden

We bought a bag of wildflower seed, laid out an area in the backyard for it, and let 'er rip. I don't have a green thumb--vegetables never survive on my watch, and I can't get potted plants to last more than a season--so this was the easiest thing we could think of to add a little color to our backyard. They're continuing to bloom and every day I'm noticing more and more new friends. I don't know when they'll stop growing, or if they'll come back in the Spring (will they??), but the ease and beauty of all this definitely makes me want to buy another bag of seed and extend the garden out next year!
